We have compiled the most frequently asked questions about this unique mask and provide you with the answers...
How do I apply it?
Apply a thin layer to the face and leave on for 20 minutes (or if you're in a hurry, 15 minutes), then remove with warm water. It can also be removed using a soft, damp muslin cloth, but avoid any friction on the skin.
It's a clay-based mask (kaolin). Is it exfoliating?
Yes, it gently exfoliates the skin. Clays adhere to dead cells on the skin's surface, which are removed when the mask is rinsed off with warm water. In this case, I use pink clay, known to be the most suitable for sensitive skin.
It always seems to be out of stock on the website. Can you increase production?
Unfortunately, no, as production is limited to approximately 50 units per month. It takes me 3 days to prepare a micro-batch because I hand-mix all the ingredients until I achieve the desired consistency.
Why do you hand-mix it?
Because if you use clays in an emulsion and process them with a mechanical mixer, they tend to absorb the oils used in the formula, preventing the skin from benefiting from them. Hand-mixing allows me to strategically place these oils within the emulsion so they are more in contact with the skin, allowing you to benefit from the clay's properties without unpleasant side effects like dryness or tightness. It's a unique mask, unlike anything you've seen before.
Does the allantoin on the label act as a soothing ingredient or an exfoliant?
Allantoin can perform both functions depending on the dose used. Small amounts have a soothing effect, while higher amounts act as a chemical exfoliant. I use the purest form available on the market, and the difference is noticeable. I use it at a low concentration, and its soothing effect on the skin is truly amazing.
Why does it contain squalane?
To help prevent water loss and at the same time restore skin flexibility and elasticity.
