Whether you're a beginner or a more experienced beauty addict, taking care of your skin doesn't have to be complicated. If the idea of starting a 10-step routine sounds exhausting (and who wouldn't be?), or if the 1001 options for choosing a single cream leave you overwhelmed, don't worry! Follow this basic 3-step facial routine and we'll guide you to skin happiness.
Getting off to a good start
Whatever routine you follow or skin type you have, a good facial routine should follow these basic steps: cleanse, treat, and moisturize. Also, if you're starting a skincare routine for the first time, don't try to do endless steps because you'll most likely give up. Consistency is what will give you the desired result.
Step 1 - Cleansing
An excellent way to pamper your skin in the morning is with a gentle cleanser to help remove excess sweat or oil accumulated overnight. Purifying Cleansing Beauty Cream is a good option since this luxurious cleansing cream has a good shot of squalane to renew and repair the skin, making it ideal for all skin types, even the driest.
However, the most important cleansing is at night. It is essential for skin health to remove makeup and SPF applied in the morning, as well as the impurities your skin has accumulated during the day.
If you have dry or mature skin, we recommend Clementine Cleansing Balm. It melts away makeup and SPF, is suitable for removing eye makeup, and leaves skin smooth and hydrated.
For oilier or congested complexions, Charcoal Peace Calming Cleanser is a must. Its three-phase formula provides a deep cleansing sensation without drying out the skin. Like Clementine, it removes both makeup and SPF, but its exclusive blend of activated charcoal and clay makes it a sensory detox for the skin.
Step 2 – Treatment
Serums are, in our opinion, an excellent way to add a boost of beneficial functional substances to the skin. Incorporate them as the second step in your routine to target desired results.
One of our heroes for soothing dry skin is Ideal Moisture Level Serum. Rich in hyaluronic acid, it is capable of maintaining optimal skin moisture and preventing chronic dehydration. Another fan-favorite is Ideal Rebalancing Level Serum, formulated to reduce excess sebum and the appearance of pores while providing the perfect amount of hydration.
For those suffering from skin blemishes, Ideal Brightening Corrective Serum is highly recommended. This 100% natural serum has been clinically proven to improve tone and reduce hyperpigmentation. Last but not least, the newest member of the Twelve family (and current best-seller) is the Plant Perfection Gel Serum. This innovative formula stimulates collagen production and creates an immediate tightening effect on the skin, reducing fine lines in the short and long term.
Step 3 – Hydration
The last step in a basic facial routine is to moisturize the skin. We recommend using a moisturizer both morning and night. You can use the same product or two different ones, it all depends on your skin's needs.
We know it's tempting, but we don't recommend skipping the hydration step if you have oily skin. Your skin needs daily hydration and protection. Our Essential Bio-Technological Moisturizer is a top option for this skin type, as it keeps the skin perfectly hydrated without leaving a greasy residue. It also works phenomenally for combination or younger skin.
If you have dry skin, Nutritive Repair Emulsion is for you. This rich consistency cream helps regenerate and strengthen the epidermal barrier. It also provides instant soothing relief to sensitive or irritated skin. In addition, it can be used as a night moisturizer for combination/oily skin.
If sun damage is your main concern and you want to prevent sunspots and uneven tone, we recommend Artemisia Power Protection Moisturizer SPF50+. Made with 100% natural physical filters, this SPF moisturizer protects the skin from both environmental pollution and UV rays. (Dry skin types can apply it after their usual moisturizer for added comfort.)
Continue your basic facial routine as you wish...
Once you get used to your routine, you can adapt it or even incorporate more steps to further increase its effectiveness. But, above all, the key is to be patient and consistent. Results depend on the complete turnover of skin cells and can take months.
