Developed in collaboration with our American friends at Ayla Beauty, Dara’s Water is the fusion of Dr. Pedro Catalá’s scientific knowledge in pharmacy, botany, and cosmetology with Dara, Ayla’s founder, and her extensive ten-year search for an effective, surfactant-free facial cleanser suitable for all skin types. Discover what makes our new non-micellar cleansing water different.
In the modern beauty world, cleansing waters are very popular due to their effectiveness, speed, and ease of use in removing all kinds of impurities. They are usually formulated with surfactants (detergents), which once incorporated into the water present in the formula, form spheres called "micelles," leading to the common name "micellar water."
However, because micellar waters are formulated with a high pH (approximately 7.4) to avoid eye irritation, this means that over time, they can cause various skin problems, as the skin's pH is around 5, especially if the product is not rinsed off. To avoid this problem, we have chosen to formulate our non-micellar cleansing water using a unique blend of humectants and polysaccharides capable of removing makeup, impurities, and even mineral sunscreen. This makes Dara’s Water a very effective, yet much gentler, alternative to traditional micellar waters.
Suitable even for reactive skin
Long-time followers of the brand know that one of our first investments was to install the best available water purification system in the laboratory. This is an immense help when formulating for very sensitive and reactive skin. However, for our new non-micellar cleansing water, we have gone an extra mile and opted to incorporate custom-distilled organic oat and rose waters, which means they are preservative-free, unlike most other floral waters. Formulated with these types of ingredients, together with soothing molecules, Dara’s Water is an excellent ally for sensitive skin.
And of course, we produce all our products in small batches as needed, right here in Spain. Although this requires a greater time investment, the resulting products are much more suitable for sensitive and reactive skin.
How to use Dara’s Water
Simply saturate a reusable cotton pad or our muslin cloth and gently wipe it over your face to remove dirt and makeup. Don't forget to rinse your face with lukewarm water when you're done for happy, healthy skin.
