Simple Home Remedies for Dry Hands

Remedios caseros sencillos para las manos secas

Personally, I like to avoid recipes with different ingredients to prevent potential errors in their preparation or contamination problems, but I do opt for using homemade remedies (which do not replace commercial preparations) with a single ingredient, and now with so much time at home, they can be useful. Below, I'll tell you about the simple homemade remedies for dry hands that I do recommend...

For chapped hands:

Milk: Every night before bed, soak your hands in a bowl of milk (cold or warm) for five minutes.

Cucumber: Liquefied cucumber juice is an infallible remedy for chapped hands.

For after hydroalcoholic gels.

Most of these formulas contain an acidic polymer (carbomer) that is neutralized with a strongly alkaline substance (triethanolamine or sodium hydroxide) to form a gel. The result is products with a higher pH than that of the skin. Diluting a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and rinsing your hands with this solution eliminates the negative effects of alkalinity and at the same time protects hands from dryness and cracking.

To complement with soap.

Oatmeal flakes: I recommend having a bowl near the sink. With wet hands, apply some oatmeal flakes, rub them, and rinse them off. Oatmeal does not replace traditional soap nor does it have significant antibacterial properties, but it does provide softness and prevents dryness.

Other tips

I also recommend massaging the remnants of serum or facial oil that we use in our daily routines. Use gloves to sleep, and apply a rich hand cream. Some prominent ingredients are very common such as jojoba oil, shea butter, sweet almond oil, and allantoin.
