As you know, we are super grateful for the great reception our new launch, Artemisia Power Protection Moisturiser SPF 50+, has received. As is often the case, we have received several questions (we love it!), some of which we thought it would be a good idea to share with all of you in today's post. Below, you will find the most frequently asked questions about the new member of the Twelve Beauty family, and of course... our answers.
Can I use this product when I go to the beach?
No, it is not a sunscreen product as such. It is a daily moisturizer with high SPF protection. It has been formulated for people who live in cities and for those who spend time outdoors in their daily lives.
Should I be more concerned about UVB or UVA rays?
Actually, both. The penetration capacity of UVB rays is lower compared to UVA rays, meaning they only reach the outer layers of the epidermis. UVB rays are responsible for a lasting tan, but also for sunburns, and can alter the genetic material of our skin cells (leading to skin cancer in the worst cases). In contrast, UVA rays reach the dermis and are capable of destroying collagen, elastin, and capillaries. In other words, they are responsible for photoaging.
Do I have to apply it every two hours?
In most cases, no. Applying it once in the morning before leaving home is enough. Use it in the same way as your usual moisturizer.
Is it necessary to apply a day moisturizer before Artemisia Power Protection Moisturiser SPF 50+?
Generally, we recommend applying it over your antioxidant serum or oil to neutralize the free radicals generated by the skin when exposed to the sun or atmospheric pollution. However, we understand that each of us has skin with different needs and, therefore, some people need that extra feeling of comfort provided by applying a moisturizer beforehand.
I tried it and it left my skin very hydrated. Why is the sensation so different compared to other SPF products?
In addition to its mineral filters, it is formulated with key lipids such as coconut triglycerides and meadowfoam seed oil, to improve skin hydration levels. Both oils remain very stable when exposed to heat and oxidation. It also contains an exclusive blend of moisturizing agents such as sodium pca, hyaluronic acid, and saccharide isomerate. This combination drastically reduces the dreaded transepidermal water loss.
It contains buddleja extract, does it make sense in a sunscreen? I thought that, being an excellent antioxidant, it was used more in serums.
Buddleja is one of our favorite botanical extracts, not only because it is rich in amino acids and polysaccharides, which increase the skin's natural moisturizing factor (NMF), but also for its photoprotective properties and its ability to soothe skin irritation caused by atmospheric pollution.
